My own Rabbit Trail

I am currently sitting in Systematic Theology class and I need a little break from the discussions at the moment. Somebody say “Rabbit-trail.” I can hardly believe that there is only 2 weeks of classes left. I am excited by that, not so excited about exams though but whatever…No Striving eh… It’s my last academic exams for a while so let’s get them over with. I am excited for graduation, yet I know that I will miss the safety of college. Life goes on though and I’m excited to see where God will lead me and the rest of the grads.
This past weekend was great. I went shopping for a suit with Joe and Nicole came as our voice of reason. It was a good but LONG time. 2 Hours in Moore’s is a little more than I was bargaining for. But when it was all said and done I came out $470 later and with a brand new styling suit, so it’s all good. I also went with Penney to the blades playoff game. It was fun the blades won 4-1 and are up 2-0 in the series, I’m looking forward to the rest of the playoffs. Lets hope the blades can bring the title home.
Anyhow all that a side the last few weeks have been a little bit more difficult as I haven’t been feeling the best. For those of you who may remember I used to have dizziness/balance problems and they have seemed to relapse a little in the past month. There have been some good days though and I guess this is one of those tough times where it will really show me a lot about my commitment and trust in God. All prayers will be excepted friends. I’m very glad there will be a little time to rest once school is done, summer break has a new ring to it, seeing as how I missed out on a break last summer during internship. I think I’ll put the feet up and just chill back read some good books, plug into M:180 at the church, and maybe do a little YC touring in Manitoba and Alberta. Rest will be good!
I have one more assignment left and I’m trying to work on it right now. I have to read a book and write a report. The book is “The second coming of the church” by George Barna. I’ve read a few chapters so far and wow is it a challenging and convicting book. For those of you who don’t know George Barna he is the STATS guy. His group does all sorts of research and have the stats on things such as “how long is a teenagers attention span” all the way to “how many Christians buy fish stickers for their cars”…ok maybe not the last stat, but you get the point. This book is one of those: this is what we need to look at and change etc… type of books and though I’ve read many of these and they almost get old after a while, I still see the value so far of what Barna is saying and we must take his message seriously. I look forward to reading the rest and getting the assignment done soon, but so far I am being challenged in the area of authenticity in my faith. People need to see this and I’ve noticed that perhaps I’ve warmed up to the world a little too much in my STRIVING for relevance and acceptance. Christians are called to be salt and light, and Different, and this is where I’m being challenged lately. In order to lead, I’ll have to be someone leading with example and worth following. Fun stuff eh! I’m going to throw a little word from David Nasser out here and its that our life should not be so much lived in view of the question “What would Jesus do?” rather lets go a step further and pose the question “What has Jesus done?” And what and how are we going to work out this amazing truth in our life actions and beliefs???? There’s some food for thought. Anyhow hope y’all are doing well in the final weeks of school or at work etc…God bless!! I'll get back to class!
